Kanon and Remi are 5!

Pausing our miracle baby story to post about our sweet Kanon and Remington!

They are five years old now.  Can anyone tell me how this has happened?  It seems like just yesterday we were bringing them home from the NICU and experiencing what it was like to have our kids home with us and figuring things out and losing sleep!  Now, they are 5, and brilliant, amazing, full of personality (and sass), and so so fun!

Kanon and Remi weren’t able to have a birthday party last year given COVID.  It was just a small event, with a couple of small cakes, with just the four (er, five) of us.  I had purchased the most gorgeous cakes for them, and had even found the cutest mixed party invitations on etsy that were frozen and dinosaurs (just like their cakes), had ordered the invites, and was just about to mail them when COVID halted those plans.

While COVID is still around, we decided to go ahead and get the cakes (which had been on hold for a year) and have a very small party, and I’m so glad we did!  We surprised the kids (as best as we could, they just assumed they were having a party, so they were expecting it, but didn’t know who would actually be there).  It was adorable seeing them walk in and see their decorated table and all their presents.  They were so excited for the small amount of family that could be here.

Kanon is our thinker.  He loves to play strategy games on his tablet.  His favorite is currently Batman lego.  I am always impressed at his ability to figure out problems within the game and how to solve them.  He has always loved to understand how things work, such as motors and other things, and that has not changed.  He loves to build things.  He can spend hours building things with legos.  He also still has the most compassionate heart, always quick to show concern if anyone expresses they aren’t feeling well.

Remi is our ball of energy, always going nonstop.  She is absolutely fearless.  I wish we had time to get her in gymnastics because I know she would thrive (hoping to make that happen in the next year and a half or so)!  She loves to run, jump, tumble, anything!  She has been trying to learn how to stand on her head (and is actually fairly close to doing so), and she also is working on the splits.  She loves Barbies right now, and will play for hours with her dolls.

Thank you, God, for our amazing kids!
